TagMap (“the App”) is maintained by an independent developer. It is a tool for annotating maps and reviewing your own workout routes. The App has no servers and no accounts — the developer does not collect, receive or store any of your data. This policy explains what the App processes on your device, where that data lives, and what rights you have.

1. Information we collect

The developer collects nothing. There is no account system, no third-party analytics, advertising or measurement component, and no data is sent to any server controlled by the developer — the developer operates no servers.

The following is processed and stored locally on your device:

1.1 Location

  • Purpose: centre the map on you, show your heading, and infer which leg of a trip you are currently on
  • Accuracy: roughly 100-metre level for ordinary use
  • When: only while you are using the App (“When In Use”). No background location, no tracking.
  • Storage: no location history is kept. Places you create yourself store their coordinates

1.2 Health and workout data

  • Source: workouts, workout routes and heart-rate series from the Health app
  • Permission: read-only. The App never writes to the Health app
  • Purpose: display and replay your routes on the map, and build your personal route heat map

1.3 Content you create

Places, tags, notes, trips, trip legs and in-place waypoints are all created by you.

1.4 What we explicitly do not collect

  • Your location and routes are never uploaded to a developer server (there is none)
  • No access to contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera
  • No IDFA or advertising identifier; no cross-app or cross-site tracking
  • No device identifiers, no profiling, no behavioural analytics
  • No third-party SDKs of any kind

2. How the information is used

Solely to provide the App’s own features: drawing your places and routes on the map, computing travel routes and times within a trip, and shading routes by how often you have taken them. Never for advertising, profiling, sale or sharing with third parties.

3. Storage and syncing

WhereDetails
Your deviceThe primary store for all data
Your private iCloud databaseIf you are signed in to iCloud, data syncs through your own iCloud to keep your devices consistent

Data resides in the private database of your Apple Account, encrypted and managed by Apple. The developer has no access to its contents.

Route-heat grid counts are derived data and are not synced; each device recomputes them from local routes.

4. Third-party services

The App contains no third-party SDKs. It does use Apple’s system map services, so the following actions send information to Apple:

FeatureSentWhen
Place searchYour query and the visible map regionAs you type in the search field
Route calculationOrigin and destination coordinatesWhen you add a stop or waypoint to a trip
Reverse geocodingA representative coordinate of a workout routeAfter importing workouts, to group them by city and region
Open in Apple MapsOrigin and destination coordinates and namesOnly when you tap that menu item

Apple handles this data under its own policy — see the Apple Privacy Policy. The developer is neither involved in nor able to see these requests. Apart from the above, the App makes no network requests.

5. Your rights

5.1 Permissions

PermissionRequired?If denied
Location (When In Use)NoThe map will not centre on you, and the current trip leg falls back to a date-based estimate. Everything else works
Health data (read-only)NoWorkouts cannot be imported, so routes and the heat map are unavailable. Everything else works

Both can be revoked at any time in system Settings. The macOS version does not request Health access — Macs do not read the Health app; import your workouts on iPhone and they sync via iCloud.

5.2 Deleting your data

  • In the App: delete places and trips, or clear imported workouts from the layers menu
  • Completely: uninstalling removes all local data from the device
  • In iCloud: Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage

The developer holds none of your data and therefore neither needs nor is able to delete it for you.

5.3 Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. As the App collects no data at all, this has no practical effect.

6. Contact

For questions, complaints, or to exercise your rights, please use the developer support channel listed on the App Store page.

If the App’s data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised; significant changes will be surfaced in the App.
